Lambeth rapper Ceebo continues his rise as one of the most exciting UK rappers with his brand new mixtape, Bloccstar.
Using a narrative arc inspired by Macbeth, the twelve-track project examines the moral tension between artistic integrity and mainstream ambition, asking whether an artist can achieve wide success while still saying something meaningful. Bloccstar moves between raw production and more polished, crossover-leaning sounds, opening with a skit referencing Eminem’s “Steve Berman” interludes and Biggie’s “Life After Death” intro.
Tracks include “Jangolova”, drawing on the UK party scene, posse cut “Coupé Decalé” with the 400 crew, and “Macbeth’s Soliloquy”, featuring Wretch 32, which lays out the project’s central conflict over a boom-bap beat. “These Days” turns reflective, questioning the trade-off between art and commerce, while closer “H.I.T.H”, built around RAY BLK’s “My Hood”, serves as a hometown anthem.
The young rapper has also performed at The Great Escape, Fête de la Musique and Reading and Leeds Festival this year.
