One of London’s most exciting and naturally intriguing collectives, kid apollo, have returned with “ups/downs”, their third single of 2026.
Following “kumbaya” and “i let the sun back in”, the new release explores the emotional highs and lows of everyday life through the group’s signature blend of raw lyricism and experimental production. Created from their home studio using little more than a laptop, “ups/downs” layers glitchy electronics and textured percussion around an interpolation of JD Cliffe’s “Lying To My Face”. The result is a stripped-back yet expansive track that gradually builds from quiet introspection into a cathartic climax.
Speaking on the release, kid apollo explained: “‘ups/downs’ touches on the unsteadiness of life. This is how it feels sometimes and the best way of putting this into words is simply ‘ups/downs’. Everyone’s felt like this at some point and to us this song is what it feels like to get it all off your chest.”
